I need Creative Direction

I loooove art. Particularly painting, music, charcoal and sculptures. I experience constant desire to be enveloped by it. But still I can't pick up a brush and dedicate myself to the time it takes to paint something beautiful like I could in my teens. So I've decided to set myself up with a project and timelines like I had back in school. A series of art I suppose? I'll begin with research, inspiration, planning and then the art will come.

Resources I'm using:

To plan an art series, start by defining a cohesive theme, subject matter, or artistic style. Then, research your chosen theme, gather inspiration, and consider the narrative you want to convey. Next, develop a plan for your artwork, including size, format, materials, and how the pieces will be presented together. Finally, consider how your series will be marketed and exhibited.
Steps
1. Defining the Series:
  • Theme or Subject Matter:
Choose a theme or subject matter that resonates with you and allows for exploration and variation. Consider what message you want to convey through the series.
  • Artistic Style:
Decide on a consistent artistic style, whether it be a particular medium, technique, or color palette.
  • Cohesion:
Ensure the artwork is cohesive and unified, either through similar subject matter, style, or narrative.
2. Research and Inspiration:
  • Gather Inspiration:
Explore your chosen theme, gather reference materials, and consider historical or cultural implications.
  • Develop a Narrative:
Decide if your series will be chronological or non-linear, and how the artwork will tell a story.
  • First-Hand Observations:
Conduct your own research, taking photos, conducting interviews, or sketching from life to create unique and interesting material.
3. Planning the Artwork:
  • Size and Format:
Determine the size and format of your artworks, considering whether they will be framed and how they will be presented.
  • Materials:
Choose the materials you will use, considering their properties and how they will contribute to the overall aesthetic.
  • Composition:
Plan the composition of each piece, ensuring a balance and flow within the series.
4. Presentation and Exhibition:
  • Curating the Exhibition:
Plan the layout of the artwork in the exhibition space, considering how the pieces will interact with each other and the overall atmosphere.
